John 1:45-51
Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.  When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him,
"Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false."  "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that." He then added, "I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

 Mark 3:18

Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and they might be with him to preach and to have the authority to drive out demons. These are the twelve he appointed: Simon ( to whom he gave the name Peter), James son of Zebedee and his brother John ( to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means "sons of thunder"), Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

NIV

Three gospels identify this disciple as Bartholomew (Matthew 10:3, Mark3:18, Luke 6:14, Acts 1:13). Nathaniel is only mentioned in the gospel of John. John 1:45-49; 21-2)
